Jamal Washington

Jamal Washington has explored the intersection of sports, labor, race, and culture for twenty years. He was a longtime columnist at The Chicago Tribune, won the National Headliner Award for his Olympic labor investigations, and produced segments for 60 Minutes Sports. He co-founded the Black Sports Journalists Network and continues coaching youth basketball in his community. Jamal joined GroundTruthCentral because sports headlines often raise deeper questions people feel silly asking — "Why do athletes protest?" or "How does money really flow in professional leagues?" He believes those questions deserve straight, respectful answers that honor curiosity. He graduated cum laude in communications from Howard University.
